THE PROGRAM

Two Journeys. One Certification.

Most 200 Hour Yoga TTC programs keep students confined inside four walls. Sages Yoga School does it differently — pairing ashram-based training on the banks of the Ganges with a Himalayan expedition to ancient shrines at up to 4,000 metres. A Yoga Alliance RYT-200 certified journey where yoga isn't just practiced — it's lived, on the mat and on the mountain.

How We Are Different — 200-Hour Yoga TTC in Rishikesh

Where Ashram Tradition Meets Himalayan Hiking

Most 200-hour yoga teacher training courses in Rishikesh keep students confined inside four classroom walls for 26 days. At Sages Yoga School, our unique 21 + 5 program combines a complete, Yoga Alliance accredited 200-Hour Ashram TTC by the sacred Ganges with a life-changing 5-day Himalayan trekking expedition to ancient temples (Tungnath, Chandrashila & Kartik Swami) at up to 4,000 metres — all included in one transparent, all-inclusive package.

A Typical 200-Hour TTC in Rishikesh

Everything You Need to Know About the 200-Hour Himalayan Hiking Yoga TTC in Rishikesh

The 200-Hour Himalayan Hiking Yoga Teacher Training in Rishikesh by Sages Yoga School is an intensive 26-day Yoga Alliance (RYT-200) certified course designed for seekers who want more than just classroom practice.

It brings together two life-transforming experiences: 21 days of traditional ashram training in Rishikesh (Hatha, Ashtanga Vinyasa, Pranayama, Meditation, Anatomy & Philosophy) followed by a 5-day sacred Himalayan hiking expedition to Tungnath (3,680m), Chandrashila Peak (4,000m), and Deoria Tal lake. You graduate fully certified to teach yoga internationally.

Yes, 100%. Sages Yoga School is an officially accredited Registered Yoga School (RYS-200) with Yoga Alliance, USA.

Upon successfully completing your 26-day course and final practical evaluations, you will receive your Yoga Alliance RYT-200 certificate. This globally recognized credential allows you to register as a Registered Yoga Teacher and teach professional yoga classes, workshops, and retreats anywhere in the world.

The Himalayan trek is graded as moderate and beginner-friendly. You do not need any prior mountaineering, rock-climbing, or high-altitude trekking experience.

The trails to Deoria Tal and Tungnath–Chandrashila are well-trodden pilgrimage and forest paths. During your first 21 days of daily asana, pranayama, and breathwork at our Rishikesh ashram, your body naturally develops the cardiovascular stamina, lung capacity, and leg strength required for the mountain hike. Certified local Himalayan guides and safety personnel accompany the group at all times.

Yes, absolutely! Beginners are warmly welcomed into this program. You do not need to be advanced or super-flexible to join.

Our master Indian teachers teach from the roots up, offering step-by-step alignments, anatomical modifications, and props for every body type. All that is required is an open mind, general health, and a sincere enthusiasm to immerse yourself in traditional yoga and nature.

The 26-day program is structured into two harmonious phases:

  • Phase 1 (Days 1–21) in Rishikesh: Intensive residential ashram training covering Hatha & Ashtanga asanas, pranayama, meditation, anatomy, Patanjali Yoga Sutras, teaching methodology, adjustments, and final evaluations.
  • Phase 2 (Days 22–26) in Garhwal Himalayas: High-altitude spiritual expedition exploring Devprayag, Kartik Swami, Chopta valley, Deoria Tal alpine lake, Tungnath temple, and a sunrise summit meditation at Chandrashila Peak (4,000m).

Our Himalayan route takes you to ancient energy vortices and sacred pilgrimage sites in Uttarakhand:

  • Devprayag Sangam: Holy confluence of the Alaknanda and Bhagirathi rivers where the holy Ganges begins.
  • Kartik Swami Temple: Spectacular 360-degree ridge-top shrine dedicated to Lord Murugan with breathtaking Himalayan vistas.
  • Deoria Tal: Pristine emerald alpine lake reflecting the snow-clad Chaukhamba peaks.
  • Tungnath Temple: The highest temple of Lord Shiva in the world at 3,680 meters (12,073 ft).
  • Chandrashila Peak: The celebrated "Moon Rock" summit at 4,000 meters (13,123 ft) with 360-degree panoramic views of Nanda Devi, Trishul, and Kedarnath.

The course curriculum strictly adheres to international Yoga Alliance standards and covers:

  • Traditional Hatha Yoga: Postural foundation, alignment, and holding postures with breath awareness.
  • Ashtanga Vinyasa: Dynamic flow, Primary Series sequencing, transitions, and drishti (gaze).
  • Pranayama & Shatkarma: Breath expansion techniques (Nadi Shodhana, Kapalabhati, Bhastrika) and yogic detox kriyas.
  • Meditation & Chanting: Mantra japa, mindfulness, and high-altitude mountain meditation.
  • Anatomy & Biomechanics: Joint mechanics, muscular actions, spine safety, and injury prevention.
  • Yoga Philosophy: In-depth study of Patanjali's Yoga Sutras, Bhagavad Gita, and yogic lifestyle ethics.
  • Teaching Methodology: Class sequencing, voice cueing, hands-on adjustments, and student handling.

In Rishikesh (Days 1–21): Clean, peaceful private or twin-sharing rooms at our ashram with attached private bathrooms, 24/7 hot water, comfortable beds, free high-speed Wi-Fi, and relaxing balconies overlooking the mountains and garden.

In the Himalayas (Days 22–25): Handpicked alpine eco-lodges and cozy mountain camps with clean bedding, warm blankets, and heated dining areas.

Meals: Three freshly prepared, 100% vegetarian Sattvic Ayurvedic meals daily, along with herbal detox teas and filtered drinking water. All food is balanced, nutritious, and easy on digestion.

We recommend packing:

  • Yoga Practice: Comfortable stretchable/cotton yoga clothes and white clothing for the opening/closing Vedic fire ceremonies (Havan).
  • Hiking & Trekking: A 25–30L daypack, broken-in trekking shoes or trail sneakers with good grip, and comfortable hiking socks.
  • Warm Clothing: A lightweight down or fleece jacket, thermal innerwear top and bottom, warm woolen cap (beanie), and gloves for chilly mountain mornings and evenings.
  • Personal Essentials: Reusable water bottle, sunscreen (SPF 50), UV sunglasses, headlamp/flashlight, lip balm, and personal toiletries.

Yes! We provide arranged airport pick-up service.

The closest airport is Dehradun Jolly Grant Airport (DED), only 35 minutes away from our ashram in Rishikesh. If you arrive at Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi (DEL), you can take a quick 45-minute domestic connecting flight to Dehradun, board the fast Vande Bharat Express train to Haridwar/Rishikesh, or book a direct private taxi transfer with us.

International students must obtain an Indian e-Tourist Visa (available with 30 days, 1 year, or 5 years validity).

You can easily apply online via the official Government of India portal (indianvisaonline.gov.in). The online e-Visa process usually takes only 3 to 5 working days. We recommend applying 2 to 3 weeks prior to your course commencement date.

Most 200-hour TTCs in Rishikesh are confined strictly inside classroom walls. Sages Yoga School created the "Mat to Mountain" experience to take yogic practice back to its birthplace—the majestic Himalayas.

Key reasons students choose Sages Yoga School: 1) Authentic lineage-trained Indian master yogis, 2) Small intimate cohorts (limited to 12–15 students) for personalized mentorship, 3) Full Yoga Alliance RYT-200 certification, 4) Complete safety with certified mountain guides, and 5) A transformative balance of deep inner sadhana and exhilarating Himalayan exploration.
